He will be accompanied by Mauricio Montiel Figueiras, editor in chief of several cultural magazines and literary supplements in Mexico City, translator, film and literary critic. He is an author himself. His most recent books are La brújula hechizada. Algunas coordenadas de la narrativa contemporánea (The Enchanted Compass: Coordinates of Contemporary Fiction, essays, 2009), Paseos sin rumbo. Diálogos entre cine y literatura (Aimless Roamings: Dialogues Between Film and Literature, essays, 2010), Señor Fritos (Mister Fritos, children’s book, 2011), La mujer de M. (The Woman of M., novella, 2012), and Ciudad tomada (City Taken Over, short stories, 2013). In 2012 he was appointed Resident Writer for the prestigious Hawthornden Retreat for Writers in Scotland and in 2015 he was appointed National Coordinator of Literature for the National Institute of Fine Artes.
