Ann Cleeves – Jimmy Perez, Vera Stanhope and me

As part of the University of Sunderland – Public Lecture Series, Newcastle Noir attended the first of these on Wednesday 14th October to hear international best-selling author Ann Cleeves speak about her fascinating journey in crime fiction, some of the wonderful characters that can be found in her novels and the role that ‘luck’ has played in her continued success as a crime writer.

As Ann regaled us with tales from her experiences you could have heard a pin drop in the packed auditorium. We were also treated to several readings from her work including the recently published ‘The Moth Catcher’. After what was a truly captivating talk, Ann also took questions from the audience and stayed to sign copies of her books and chat further with the public. A most memorable evening!
